WHY US

What makes us different?

Swadesi, more than a brand is a social initiative under a movement – TAVASI. It is to re-introduce, remind and re-establish the use of cotton and other indigenously grown handloom for daily workouts, sports and other sweat inducing activities. Along with the mission to spread India's rich cultural heritage and way of life, the aim is to spread awareness about conduciveness of fabric for any local climate and its importance for your body health.

India being a land falling under tropical type of climate does not support wearing of spandex, lycra and other synthetic fabrics. The reason being their ability to trap moisture and chemically react (accelerated by heat produced in this climate) with the skin leading to skin diseases like eczema and intertrigo.
